Re: How do I download premium maps for PS3?

I looked at your Battlelog Profile http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/CorporalCricket/ and it shows that you have purchased Premium for your PS3 in addition to your PC platform.  You will have to re-download your Premium file since it may have been deleted or corrupted during a title update in order to download your epxansion packs free of charge.  Open the PSN store, go to our purchase\download history and scroll through your purchase\download history until you find your premium file, then click on it and re-download it and follow the instructions that I posted in the paragraph above.

Once you have re-downloaded your Premium file on the PSN make sure that you restart BF3 and upon restarting at the main title screen you will receive a pop up stating you are now premium and you will have a Premium background.  From the main title screen go to the BF3 in game store and download the DLC expansions covered by Premium via the Premium tab of the BF3 in game store then close and restart BF3.  After the expansions download go to the games portion of the XMB and click on each expansion's bubble to install the game.  After each expansion has been fully downloaded and installed restart BF3.  At this point you will receive a series of pop ups stating that you now have each expansion.  Now from the main menu go to multiplayer, open server browser and then open the server browser filter by clicking R3 and check all new maps and game modes or you won't find any games on the new expansions.

    Thanks for the reply!

So I think I figured out what the problem was.  In short, the PS3 premium purchase was refunded by PSN, which is why it won't let me re-download the Premium file, and I will need to re-buy it.  Unfortunately, it is $50 on the PSN now instead of the $25 that it was last week when I bought it ☹️   Oh well....

I'm happy that you figured out what happened.  However since you paid for Premium and it was somehow refunded you might want to call Sony customer service to see if they can give it to you at the sale price that you bought last week.  Here is Sony's contact information:

Yeah I did try calling them, but no luck.  That's OK though - the regular copy of BF3 that I bought from the local EB Games said they will let me return and buy the Premium Edition - so I will just do that.

Here's the long version in case you're curious:

When I was looking online for BF3 Premium for the PS3 during the sale and comparing prices between EB and PSN, I found that they were about the same...a few dollars difference. To save time, I just bought it from the PSN.  After this, the game obviously didn't work because what I hadn't realized was...."Premium" is just the DLC, and "Premium Edition" is the game + DLC.  The PSN site didn't indicate this, it just says that "Premium" includes all of the expansion packs.  After talking to customer support, they indicated that this was supposed to be obvious that it doesn't include the games...just expansions.

Anyway....PSN then wanted $40 for just BF3 on top of the $25 for premium, when Premium Edition from EB and all other retailers was at $30 total.  Not wanting to pony up another $40 to PSN, I requested a refund.  They indicated they would submit the request, but no guarantees and 7-10 days to wait for an answer.  Knowing the sale wouldn't last that long, I told them never mind, cancel the refund, to which they acknowledged it was cancelled.  So, I went to EB and bought BF3 for $20 - sale price at the time.  When I installed it, everything looked fine...it says I unlocked Premium content, etc etc. with popups in the main menu.  The next day or two, I get an e-mail saying it was refunded.  Went back to the game, it still says Premium...must just be a mistake.  Check the credit card; sure enough - it was refunded.  At this point, Premium DLC has gone up to $50 (which would be on top of the $20 for the game).

When I called about this, they said that two refund requests were made and only one was cancelled.  I asked if I could just repurchase at the original $25 price, they instructed me to call a # with a reference #, which I did. They then told me that since they proceeded with the refund as instructed, there was nothing they could do (despite them acknowledging the cancellation request immediately after).

All that - my friend happen to mention this to an EB employee, to which they said I could bring back the $20 BF3 game and exchange for Premium Edition and just pay the difference.  Price is now $40.  While that is more than the $30 sale price, it will still be less than the $45 (20 +25) I would have paid with DLC from PSN.

Long story short.......not buying from PSN again.  Probably a decent chunk my fault, but even going back to their store page....there's no way I would have known that "Premium" didn't included the original game based on their sale page.  I'd perhaps suggest to EA to avoid a name confusion like this in the future 🙂
