Re: How to upgrade vanilla battlefield 3 to premium on ps3

Thanks,

The cheapest place I found was a hard copy on origin for £30, which is affordable, if I put aside some money for a while!

Will it keep my progress though?

Is the premium disc different to the vanilla disc?

Will it just be a code for premium?

Do I redeem the code in Battlefield or PSN?

Sorry about the questions, but I love my Battlefield and don't want to waste my money!

Thanks

Yes your soldier progress will be unaffected and you will maintain all of your progress, unlocks, assignments, awards, etc.  The premium disc is merely the vanilla disc with a new graphic with a piece of paper with the Premium code that allows you to download the expansions for free.  You will redeem the premium code via the PSN like you do for normal PS3 game codes.

After you redeem your Premium code make sure that you restart BF3 and upon restarting at the main title screen you will receive a pop up stating you are now premium and you will have a Premium background.  From the main title screen go to the BF3 in game store and download the DLC expansions covered by Premium via the Premium tab of the BF3 in game store then close and restart BF3.  After the expansions download go to the games portion of the XMB and click on each expansion's bubble to install the game.  After each expansion has been fully downloaded and installed restart BF3.  At this point you will receive a series of pop ups stating that you now have each expansion.  Now from the main menu go to multiplayer, open server browser and then open the server browser filter by clicking R3 and check all new maps and game modes or you won't find any games on the new expansions.

    Thanks a lot!

When I get it, should I keep using the vanilla disc or premium disc or does it not matter?

    You've been a great help!

    Thanks loads!

No problem I'm always happy to help.  It doesn't matter which disc you use after you download your premium file and expansion packs.
