I guess that unfortunately you are right here. Nevertheless I found a workaround and thought I might share it for anyone with the same struggle:

As there are two possible crouch binds in the game already (hold to crouch, and toggle to crouch) I just use toggle to crouch for my sliding and the button c and the holding crouch is with my ctrl button. 

Sometimes is a bit off and does not slide properly, but my succes rate is way above the other alternative..

I hope there is the possibility in the future, but I doubt it :X
