i simply installed bf2142 on two computers(2 CDs, two serial codes). patchted to 1.4, 1.5, 1.51. got an offline profile (google: bf2142 offline profile) you get to battlefieldsingleplayer(dot)com. this profile simply gets unpacked into your /my documents/ folder. inside this profile you will find a file you can edit (\my documents\Battlefield 2142\Profiles\0001\profile.con) with windows notepad. The preconfigured player account and soldiername should be "singleplayer", you may change this three times in the file and remember this name. cut your LAN cable or disable your network adapter, start bf2142 and login with your name you set into the profile.con. A message will appear "no conenction to EA masterserver", because there is litteraly no master server anymore AND you cut your internet. we cut the network, because the game will try for 3 or so minutes to connect to it. if no internet is detected, the game instantly jumps to "play offline". so then answer the messagebox with "ok" to play offline. enable your network again. bf will register this and asks you, if you want to play online. say NO, because it wont work. then create a LAN or singleplayer game and play. up to this point everything works fine. but my partner cant join this created server, nor can i on his server. the problem may be that i use a deluxe edition, and my partner a normal edition.
