Re: lenient latency

Could someone please explain what the Lenient Latency On/Off option in server settings actually do. I've been trying to sort that out for a while now. In detail please, not just the default "if enabled will allow a larger latency to hit enemies without having to lead".

The explanation that you don't want tells you exactly what it does. If you turn lenient latency off those with higher pings have to lead the target more in order to hit their target instead of just aiming center mass on the target like those with lower pings. It minimizes lag compensation in order to keep low ping players from being at a disadvantage.

    Thanks Ragnarok013,

I get it helps high ping players to hit their targets, but how is that obtained? There is no magic that takes the physical latency away so there is something the server does to compensate the low network performance. The question is what that magic is? Does it add similar lag to other players? Does it predict where other players are going? Does it widen the hitbox? Does it switch to client side hit detection? It does something fishy to even up the battlefield.

I was looking for more technical description of the option, rather than a logical one.

    Thnx,

    Jamppu
