Re: [PS4] Troubleshooting Guide

1. What ports should be forwarded for the PS4 console?

When using PSN at an office or other location with a shared network, a firewall or other security measures might prevent you from connecting to PSNSM. If this occurs, refer to the following information.
With PSN, you connect with a PSNSM server using the Internet, or connect directly with other PS4™ systems. The following port numbers are used to connect with the PSN servers using the Internet.

TCP: 80, 443, 1935, 3478, 3479, 3480
UDP: 3478, 3479

When competing with other players in an online game, you connect directly with other PS4™ systems. A different port number is used each time you connect.

Communication might be restricted depending on the security functions provided by your router or Internet service provider. Refer to the instructions supplied with the network device in use, and information from your Internet service provider.

    2. Setting up connection to the Internet with your PS4 and NAT types

You can connect to the Internet with the PS4™ system by using a LAN cable (for a wired connection) or Wi-Fi (for a wireless connection).
Select Network > Setp Up Internet Connection, and then follow the screens to adjust settings.

    • Internet connection settings vary depending on the network environment and devices you use. Prepare the items necessary for the network environment you use, such as a LAN cable or an access point.
    • Depending on the network environment you use, additional settings such as the proxy server or IP address might be necessary. For further information, refer to the information from your Internet service provider and the instructions supplied with the network device in use.

Connecting with a LAN cable (for a wired connection)

Select [Use a LAN Cable]. If you select [EASY] and follow the screens, the standard settings are automatically selected.

Connecting with Wi-Fi (for a wireless connection)

Select [Use Wi-Fi]. If you select [EASY], saved access points and access points that have been found appear. Select the access point you want to connect to, and then adjust the settings.

    • When you are using an access point that supports WPS, AOSS or Rakuraku WLAN Start®, you can save that access point in just a few easy steps. AOSS and Rakuraku WLAN Start® are available only in certain countries and regions.
    • If the access point you want to connect to is not found, select [Set Up Manually], and then adjust the settings.

    3. Test Internet Connection

To test an Internet connection and display the results, select [Network] > [Test Internet Connection].

Obtain IP Address Whether an IP address has been obtained
Internet Connection Whether an Internet connection has been established
PSN Sign-In Whether signing in to PSNSM succeeded
NAT Type How the PS4™ system is connected to the Internet
This information can be used to judge the ease or difficulty of connecting to other PS4™ systems, such as when using communication features of games.
Type 1: The system is connected directly to the Internet.
Type 2: The system is connected to the Internet with a router.
Type 3: The system is connected to the Internet with a router.
With Type 3, communication with other PS4™ systems might be impossible, or the PS4™ system's network features might be limited. For details, see "When you cannot connect to PSNSM".
Connection Speed (Download)* The estimated speed at which the PS4™ system can receive data from the Internet.
Connection Speed (Upload)* The estimated speed at which the PS4™ system can send data to the Internet.

    *Connection speeds are estimates only.
