Re: Punk buster pbsetup not working

The only version of punk buster that I have right now is the one that comes with battlefield 4  on origins. And that setup is PBsvc application. Which is out dated. Now I’m trying to download the PBsetup which is the most updated version of punk buster. I’ve downloaded the pbsetup file and opened it. Click and accepted the terms and then I wait for the thing to pop up and start updating but as soon as it tries to. It crashes. And I don’t know why this is happening to me.

    @DuilMaighstir As a long shot disable the anti virus and see if PB installs. It may have flagged the file a malicious.

    So I’ve tried to download it in safemode and even disabled my antivirus and it still didn’t download it. The program crashes still. This is so annoying. You guys got any other options for me?

    @DuilMaighstir Have you checked your Operating system for errors?

    Open CMD by typing "CMD" into the run box lower left. Right click CMD and select run as administrator. Then at the prompt type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" without the quotes and let it run. It will tell you if it finds and repairs any files. This will take a couple of minutes. It fix's the OS.

    After the above runs at the same command prompt type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes and let it run, it will repair any file errors it finds. This also will take some time depending what it finds.

    Type "exit to close CMD.

    Then see if the error persists.

    Just want to add Punk Buster will crash if it is unable to contact the update server. So a firewall, or anything that blocks it will cause it to crash. You can try to update Punkbuster on another pc, then move the updated files to your pc and see if you can run BF4. If so you know for a fact you have something blocking PB.
