Re: RESTRICTION: Disallowed Program/Driver [130827]

We have a few reports from our community that the MSI Afterburner can trigger Punkbuster with this error message. It might worth a try to de-install MSI Afterburner from your system.

You can try the following workaround as well:

1.- Open Windows Explorer and browse to c:/windows/syswow64

2.- Scroll down to your PnkBstrA.exe

3.- Right-click on PnkBstrA.exe and choose "Properties"

4.- Click on the "Compability" tab and then "Change settings for all users"

5.- Click the checkbox for "Run this program as an administrator" and confirm by hitting "OK"

Please keep us updated.

  • Hi EA_Bastian

I would like to say thank you for this work-around.  I have been experiencing the same issues with Battlefield 4 and this error.

    Setup:

    ASUS P8-Z68 Deluxe PCI-E 3.0 Motherboard

Intel Core i5 2500K running standard clock speeds

    8GB G.Skill 2133mhz DDR3 RAM

2 x ASUS HD7970 3GB DDR5 DirectCU II running in CrossFire running standard clock speeds

CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 1000W PSU

    Seagate 500GB HDD

I am having to run MSi Afterburner because of my AMD CrossFIre setup.  The current AMD drivers seem to have an issue with the ULPS with my second card, which renders CrossFire useless.  Turning off the ULPS with MSi Afterburner, gave me better performance but soon after I turned it off, the game freezes for 3 seconds and the sound will loop, during gameplay.  The freezing happens at random and I'd like to think it's just lag on the servers I play on.  This would eventually lead to the game crashing with the Punkbuster error.

But since I've used this work-around, the game still freezes with looping sound but it does not crash anymore.

    Thanks again for the help.
