Thanks but I did that first, also I updated the drivers for the new monitor with no change.

I do have an Nvidia (GeForce GTX 630) and I used that GeForces Experience app to let it auto update to the most recent drivers. So which ever it loaded is what I have, should I roll back that update? The one significant observation I have is that this only happened last night after I installed the new monitor. I used my old many times without anything like this happening.
