Re: Server Crash Exploit

Sorry to re-open this but we're dealing with the same issue right now.

We actually know who is doing this. It's a person who is really mad about the fact we banned him for breaking a rule. He threatened to let our servers crash.

The way this works is that a player has to join the server, he or she runs a script that makes use of a known serversided exploit that was left there by DICE/EA which has been a known issue since BF4 release. After that, the server crashes. You can ban the accounts but they just keep coming back with new accounts.

GG DICE for never fixing this.

You're referring to RSP, this is BF4 we're talking about 🙂 Servers were done completely different in BF1 in relation to BF4. BF4 has 3rd parties, BF1 is a closed internal EA system. For problems with BF1 servers you need customer support. For problems with servers from older BF titles, contact the host you're dealing with. For example, Fragnet, Nfoservers, i3D, multiplayservers, etc.

Of course, if there are server side problems when it comes to performance, yes.

But if it is a server crash exploit due to flaws in the server implementation, what should a 3rd party host do?

You think they are reprogramming the server to fix it? Or would even be allowed to do it?

Then there is also Blaze backend attacks, disconnecting clients from servers. All those server for authentication are EA side, so only they can fix it.

Same goes for the current problem with the overseeding of servers with gametime accounts.

EA support is always pushing stuff away to the 3rd party hosters but they cannot do anything and pretty sure they are not even allowed to change the game files.

And, interestingly enough I heard that those overseeding scripts also work for BF1... maybe EA acts once people start attacking BF1 servers
