It appears unfortunately to be a bug on the server side itself...

And EA have not yet had the priority yet to get it fixed.

It appears tobe triggered with that you first as a player have suddenly lost the connection to the server mid game or if you aka have switch off your gaming console direct without first logging nicely out from the active game.  The server then wrongly thinks you are still active in the game and on the server.  Next time you then try again to join to play on that server, the result is that it keeps hanging while showing you the message top right "joining server..." but it actually never does.   And you will need to restart the BF4 program to get back again to control of it.  And you will then experience that you are indeed able to join other servers without any problem.

While the server you experience this trouble with, will need to get a full reset before you will be able to join it again.  Periodically all BF4 servers are reset for general maintenance, so after this you will experience that you again can join that specific server again without any problems.

But the bug is definitely there and the trouble/root cause is on the server side.  Not your player side setup or anything.  So it links to be something with the server runtime cache file that is not flushed/updated correctly, to reflect which players are indeed truly still active on the server or not.

    So this kind of works but it only puts me in empty servers or in servers with people who have the same issue which was strange but thank you for this suggestion.

    @KarambitKiller is it on a server where you are in good contact with the server owner or admins?

    If so, then I can help you with a workaround, but it takes that they are willing to actively help you on it.

    So if yes to the above, then ask them to write me a PM here on this board and I can help you and them to walk through the workaround in case you again get blocked from joining your favorite server there!

    It is now working, apparently either they were fixing servers or I just had to completely unplug my pc. Thank you for the support have a great day.

    Hi @KarambitKiller , I'm experiencing a similar issue on XBoxOne platform and I'm the server owner/admin. Our server is KillerCupboard, (Not the Warrior Nation server who is currently hosting the game with our server name) with an active community on Discord, clan, 14000 likes.   

    I can connect to the Admin console but when me, or any of our players try to connect the server message is 'You have lost connection to the server'. 

    Connecting to KillerCupboard from the 'Server browser' shows one active slot.  

    Any suggestions?

    As the last 24/7 Golmud server in EU we are busy all the time, or were.
