Re: Unable to access operations campaign

@tonestones

Four Operations are available for play in the base game, along with an additional five in expansion packs.

with the Battlefield 1 Standard Editon (base game), only these four Operations can be played:
-Conquer Hell Operation (Base game, Ballroom Blitz and Argonne Forest maps)
-Iron Walls Operation (Base game, Monte Grappa and Empire's Edge maps)
-Kaiserschlacht Operation (Base game, St. Quentin Scar and Amiens maps)
-Oil of Empires Operation (Base game, Fao Fortress, Suez and Sinai Desert maps)

with the Battlefield 1 Revolution Editon (base game + Premium Pass), five additional DLC Operations can also be played
-Beyond The Marne Operation (They Shall Not Pass expansion, Soissons and Rupture maps)
-Brusilov Offensive Operation (In the Name of the Tsar expansion, Galicia and Brusilov Keep maps)
-Devil's Anvil Operation (They Shall Not Pass expansion, Verdun Heights and Fort De Vaux maps)
-Gallipoli Operation (Turning Tides expansion, Cape Helles and Achi Baba maps)
-Red Tide Operation (In the Name of the Tsar expansion, Volga River and Tsaritsyn maps)

The active Operation campaign is now the "Fire and Ice" (Brusilov Offensive Operation plus Devil's Anvil Operation).
On the Operations screen, these two operations (Brusilov Offensive Operation plus Devil's Anvil Operation) have a green color and no lock on them. However, you cannot play them with the Battlefield 1 Standard Editon (Premium pass is required).

@HUN_gattaca_lg No just the operation campaign, but i still don't get it, i used to play these maps on operations no problem it's only know this occurs

@HUN_gattaca_lgi even have clips of playing verdun on operations so i know that i could play these maps before without premium, it's only know that i get locked out of operation campaign

Wait a minute, i just checked my footage to verify wether i did play these maps on operatins and i noticed a differance. In the circle i can see a small star but on the other footage they have a checkmark, is there a differance between those two? Right next to the name of the mode

also can the revolution edition access the operations campaign? I got the revolution version of the game, thought it was the base game, but it actually says revolution. Should i be able to access this then?

If you have the Revolution Edition then you should have received the Premium Pass, which lets you install the DLC packs.

Have you checked all of the DLC packs are still installed @tonestones?

  • @ElliotLH Tbh i don't know. I read somewhere that even if it says revolution that it is just the base game. I got the ps5 game and on the title card it says revolution but other areas it is just battlefield 1

@tonestones Ah right, we had this the other day with someone else. If, like them, you got it for free then it's the Standard edition but Sony are using the Revolution artwork as the background.

I'm afraid that to the best of my knowledge right now, you'll need to buy Premium or specific DLC packs if you want to access certain maps and Operations.
  • @ElliotLH Who would design the artwork by displaying a completely different version? Isn't that nonsensical
  • @ElliotLH Also i still got this one question. How was i able to play these maps before but not now on operations?

@tonestones You'd need to ask Sony about the artwork I'm afraid.

Dice have run free Premium days in the past so you could have played during one of those periods, or it might have been on maps which were given away free in the past, like HUN_gattaca_lg mentioned. Perhaps you do actually own Premium but forgot and don't have it installed (you'd need to see what the store says), but I imagine that's very unlikely.

Unfortunately, if you want to play every map and mode in the game, you'll need Premium. Whether that'd be worthwhile to you, though, would be up to you.

You are supposed to be able to play the ops campaign without owning premium. This is definitely a bug and has been going on since January actually. On Playstation there used to be like 5 campaign servers running every day, but then suddenly in January in the middle of the campaign that was running back then the amount of servers running dropped to maybe 1 a day. Some days there weren't even any active campaign servers. Sometimes we had 2 servers, but that was very rare. With the last campaign, the Fall of Empires, which is the only campaign which consists of 2 base game operations, we suddenly had 5 servers running each day again. And now we are back to maybe 1 server a day.

I'm sure DICE or EA has posted this somewhere, they made this change at some point, it wasn't always the case but you are definitely supposed to play the ops campaign without having to own premium.

@ElliotLH can you please forward this issue to the team? Thank you.

Edit: a quick google search found this news article detailing campaigns are now free for everyone: https://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-1-operation-campaigns-go-free-for-everyone/

I started searching for maps and game modes in the server browser (Battlefield 1 Standard Edition without Premium Pass).
I didn't know this either until now, that all Shock operations maps are free for all players:

    https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/battlefield/news/bf1-shock-ops-update-2018

    five Shock Operation maps:
    Giant’s Shadow
    Prise de Tahure
    Lupkow Pass
    Zeebrugge
    River Somme

Best of all, the Shock Operations experience is available to all players, even if you don’t own the expansion packs that offered these maps. (For access to expansion pack maps outside of the Shock Operations mode or full access to the expansion packs, you’ll still need to purchase the expansion pack or Battlefield 1 Premium Pass separately.)
