@roughriderv111 Have you tried fully closing your browser and Origin, then logging back in?

Also do you have plugin free game launching enabled in Battlelog? If you don't you can try enabling it by doing the following:

1: Log into Battlelog and go to your profile page.

2: Click the "Edit Profile" button.

3: Scroll down the page until you see "Game Launch".

4: Put a check in the box next to "Use plugin-free game launching".

If that doesn't help try clearing your browser cache (instructions here: http://refreshyourcache.com/en/home/).

If none of the above fixes the problem you can try using a different browser to log into Battlelog and join a server.

You can also try starting and logging into Origin, then open your browser and log into Battlelog by going here: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/. Use the same email/password you use for Origin.

Tried plug-in free game launching and it doesn't work on either of my browsers, Firefox nor chrome. I have cleared cache and done all the things suggested by others regarding that, as well as some comments some EA techs have listed in their help section, and none of that works. No sooner that I try the "plug-in free game launching" it errors and says that I need to have origin started, which always is running when I am trying to play bf3 or bf4.

I have done everything that others have tried in regards to their somewhat similar problem and none of that works. Including what the other person was talking about: ports.

What is seemingly odd, which some may or may not see like I do, but anyone playing bf4 without problems shouldn't have issue with playing bf3 *in regards to ports* since both games use the exact same ports.

The only remaining thing I haven't done at this point is remove and reinstall BF3.

I will attempt methods suggested, again, even though I know they wont work as I have tried them already, but will do it anyway for the heck of it. After that, will remove bf3 and try a reinstall to see if it changes anything. if it fails again than I will just remove it and put the game in my "old games" section as I have played the single player game more times than I care to say and the multiplayer portion is all I care to play in that game now and if I can't play that, might as well remove it.

On a different note, somewhat, I find it ludricous and ridiculous format in which to play the game. They should have stuck to the method that bfbc2 is using, I haven't had a single problem with bc2 and prefer doing all my server browsing from within the game instead of having to leave the game in order to switch to a different server.

Oh I do need to correct myself, however, on one thing that I haven't done. What's this about disabling 2-step log in thing? I don't see anything in settings about 2-step log in when joining server (confused).

Just a little update on this. I tried everything suggested again and problem still existed so i removed bf3 and did a fresh install, downloading it thru origin to see if that would make a difference. Upon doing so, it is now telling me I need to buy the back to karkand exp even though my limited edition copy of bf3 already has access to that exp with no need to buy it again O.o

Talk about some messed up stuff going on right there, If it wasn't enough that couldn't play the mp part of it already as it is, if this doesn't get resolved it will surely put the nail in the coffin on this game.

@roughriderv111 Here is an article describing login verification: http://help.ea.com/en/article/origin-login-verification-information/. You can try disabling it if you have it enabled and see if your able to join a multiplayer game. Some ppl do have an issue joining multiplayer servers with it enabled. If you do disable it, try re enabling it afterwards because it does significantly improve account security.

Also make sure your firewall/antivirus isn't blocking Origin or Battlefield. You can also try starting Origin as admin (right click>Run as administrator).

One other thing you can try is doing a manual uninstall of Origin (instructions here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/manually-uninstalling-origin/). Then download a fresh copy of Origin (https://www.origin.com/en-us/download) and reinstall it.

As to your DLC, you should be able to download/install it by doing the following:

1- Log into Origin and go to the "My Games" tab.

2- Right click on BF3 and select "View Game Details".

3- Scroll down to the "Expansions" section, you should see your DLC there and can right click it to download/install.

If you don't see it there, you will have to contact EA support at http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/ so they can check your account and see why its not available to you.

yeah I had saw the 2-step log in stuff after I had made one of my comments above, I looked at my settings and it was disabled already so that wasn't the issue obviously lol.

As for the DLC, Oh it's there but it says I need to buy it again even though my Limited Edition copy of bf3 gives me that expansion, but upon downloading bf3 thru origin on my fresh install it failed to give me the exp. Looks like I'll need to re-install again from the dvds in order to get the expansion again.

A whole lot of trouble over a game that is what, 4 years old? Turning out to be more of a headache than I want so I will be looking this over thru the next few days trying to decide if I want to dump the game for good or not.

Thanks for the attempts to help, appreciate it.

  • that above powerlock is me, not sure why it used my pogo log-in for battelfield O.o

this above screenshot is on the bf3 back to karkand exp page, with the note included about how the limited edition gets it at no extra charge.

as you can see by my screen cap on my desktop, I have limited edition bf3 and you will also note how it says I have to buy it.

I see I'm not going to get any response from the EA people on here regarding the expansion pack. Unbelievable

  • I appreciate the attempts to try and help, I have tried suggestions from various threads and none of them work for me, have the same constant problem. Including the expansion pack problem, it has put me in the position to remove the game and will not buy another EA/DICE game.
