Recover Old Battlefield 2 Account Info

Is their a way to recover the old account I would have used for Battlefield 2? I was going to play on some of the BF2 servers being kept alive by the community and I was reading that if you can log into the same account you used back when BF2 was new you can play with all your stats and unlocks from back then still in tact.

I know the email address used by when I try to recover the password from EA it only asks me to reset my Origin account password.
