Replace BF1 disk install with digital download

I am on PS4 Slim.

I want to buy the Battlefield Anniversary Bundle and replace my BF1 disk install with the Battlefield Revolution in this bundle so I can get the extra content that is in the Revolution version, play BF4 and can play without the disk.

I also hope some issues I have with the game ( for example lockups between rounds of Operations) will go away with a (re)install.

Can I just install this bundle without any extra action or do I first need to remove my current BF1?

When I remove my current BF1 will some of my progress be deleted?

I completed the whole campaign, got all ribbons, codex (except Russian Axe) and got all throphies from BF1 and I don't want to lose them.

Hopefully someone can help me.

  • No, I´m on PS4 as well 😉

a friend of mine did the same thing and it worked 👍

don´t erase the saved data, just the application

  • Hey @NLBartmaN,

As far as I'm concerned, you can get the Revolution Edition, and remove the original copy of Battlefield 1 that you have installed.

You will not lose any progress if you uninstall the original copy you have, considering everything is saved in the Cloud/Servers for Battlefield 1.

That's up to you if you'd like to have both versions installed, or just the Revolution Edition.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks 🙂

So uninstall my current BF1 and then buy and install the Battlefield Anniversary Bundle?

And then when I start the new game it will bring back my progress by checking/synchronizing with my PS4 account?

I read somewhere that only the online/multiplayer progress is saved on the servers.

Things like completed singleplayer campaign not.

Do you know more about this?

And BF1 Revolution is nothing more then the normal BF1 with extra Heroes bundle and Premium Pass code?

The BF1 gamefiles are exactly the same as the BF1 on the disk?

What would happen if I don't remove the old BF1 and just buy the Battlefield Anniversary Bundle and try hitting install?

Will it even start to install or will it say: BF! is already installed?

I just want to be sure I don't lose any progress

    @NLBartmaN

just erase your game data (the ~70-100 GB file), keep your local campaign savegame, that´s in another folder and only some MB.

Yes, your multiplayer progress will still be there if you´re using the same account.

Maybe you can use your "old" game file, but you´ll have to install the extra content files then.

If it doesn´t work, just install the whole package.

    The most important thing:

Multiplayer progress is stored on EA´s servers.

Singleplayer progress won´t be lost if you don´t erase the Application Saved Data 🙂

  • Thanks for the reply.

I am on PS4 .. your solution sounds like one that can be done on a PC ?

  • Great, thank you!

I will give this a try after I make a backup online or on a usb drive of everything just to be sure 😉
