[Request]Battlefield 5 linux support

Dear EA/forumreaders,

I recently read news about BF5 and would like to ask if there is any plans for Linux support. It would be a great opportunity for Linux gaming and the BF/origin fanbase to grow even when we have ~2% marketshare (mac seems to get support even when it has 9%?). I thank you all for the read and would love a response! Much thanks

The DICE developers do not look at these forums.  Your best bet is to post on the Battlelog Forums where they actually look.

However, I very highly doubt they will take all the extra work to code this game to work on Linux, since almost nobody uses it.  And they do not do it for Mac either, Battlefield does not have a Mac version.

What are you smoking? Linux is everywhere from tv box to International Space Station  to submarines to automated cow milking devices.

Sure, Linux is everywhere but you wouldn't play BF on the international spacestation, on submarines or on automated cow milking machines. When he said almost noone uses he's obviously talking about people having desktop computers capable of actually playing the game in a demographic that actually want to play the game.

That being said, I would personally find it awesome if BF5 came out for Linux. For that to happen though I will believe that what you need to ask for first is proper graphics drivers from AMD/Nvidia and then Vulcan support in the Frostbite engine. Both those milestones are not really suitable topics for this forum but I wish you all the luck in the world 🙂
