seeing through the fog on BF1

Can anyone tell me how some can see through the fog on the new BF1 game? I just don't get it? I cannot see anymore than a few meters, but seemingly Im getting shot and killed at tremendous ranges with a One shot one Kill Pop-Gun??????

OK so someone said, look at the map, but it shows no-one as a red dot, just the map??

Just don't get it?

I would guess if no one else gets this one sided show, then the only thing to do is not play on maps that insist on "Heavy Fog" as part of the game play?

I mean, even in the real world in WW1 the Airplanes would not fly in fog, as it was impossible to see?

Thing is, its the same players getting the kills in the air in that FOG, as it is on the Ground with a Pop-Gun at longer than normal for an easy kill range???

Anyone up for this?

Got any Ideas as to how it done?

Super Vision maybe?

Thanks in advance it you figured it out for me?

  • As someone who is flying in the fog himself, I can actually say that getting kills from it is not that impossible - usually it simply forces me to either fly at about 15m (which is enough to see targets in advance; fog blocks your horizontal vision way more than vertical/diagonal vision below certain altitude) or do the blind bombing. If I see the flag area blinking, I will be more than happy to send some bombs that way without actually seeing the target. If I'm in certain plane types, I will also drop spot flares, which show nearby enemies on the minimap long enough for me to make a turn and bomb the living hell out of them.

About snipers, the thing is, I suspect that a certain quirk from BF4 found its way into Battlefield 1 - in BF4, smoke becomes more see-through when you look at it through something with magnifying power (like a scope). I suspect that it's the same with fog in BF1.

OK, That about explains the Snipers, but when the victim is running at full tilt, bayonet chage in the fog? Ain't buying that one at all pal, its an "Aimbot" that EA can't detect. Plain and simple ok?

As for the Aeroplanes, in WW1 and 2 all planes were grounded in Fog, irregardless of how much they were needed! This one I know in person as my Late Father was a Decorated WW2 Vet, along with my late Mother who was a British Vet too, Survivor of the Battle of Brittain, lived on the "Glide Path" to Biggin Hill, (at the Base of the hill actually on the Bombing path side) so I can honestly tell you that "Nothing Flew" in FOG!

Ask any pilot in the real world if they fly in Fog ok?

To put anything in the Air on BF1 when its Ground Fog only is still ridiculous and makes me laugh!

Time for EA to change this tidbit, add more Ground Vehilces in Fog, (as the Planes can fly then).

When the Fog lifts, then let planes swarm out like they REALLY did in the Battel of the Bulge!!!

The Planes really saved those guys, not Patton! My father told me vetbatum about this from his position in the Canadian Lines! These guys were actually giving odds on how many allies would be captured, and which Port the same Allies were gonna have to "BUG OUT!" at like they did years earlier.

It was that close according to my Dad!

Thanks, but if EA uses my suggestions it will not be so ridiculous a game in the fog.

BTW. If you got a sniper looking at you in the fog, don't shoot until your fully hidden ok? The new Aimbot looks for a rifle shot, aims at it, and instantly replies on the shot too no matte how fast the victim is running, OK?

Thanks for your comment, gave yaa some xp for it too!

But as for me, I think I'm on to how its really happening, I did like your arguement tho......

  • I think you will find that due to no real anti cheat in game some players are taking advantage atm and using aimbots etc.

I have been frustrated many times in BF1 by someone the other side of a building killing me. Or someone the other side of a rock formation not in line of sight killing me.

I know many are good snipers but being one shot by a pistol from 100 meters away is a bit dubious.

I don't think this is the case. I actually tried with high magnification and even marksman rifles and no go. Although I've got a POS 4K TV. And it's too small. Although because of the fact I am running in HDR it does seem to cut through a little bit. So maybe perhaps when I get my new TV which I'm planning on either the LG 65SJ9500 or LG C7P I'll get back with you on that one. Because both of those models Peak a lot brighter and have better colors and much higher contrast than my current TV. The SJ8500 with local dimming has 400:1 contrast higher than my TV. So my theory is between a very large size and good quality HDR and color approaching Rec 2020 would probably be enough to cut through the fog also higher contrast ratios might be helpful.
  • Because there good at the game and some pistol do a lot of damage

I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread, as it's a few years old now.
