Server browser STILL not showing servers

Alright, it's been almost years now. Either I'm the last person getting this problem or whatever the solution is, it doesn't ever show up when I search this problem a thousand times. I have done all of the following...

Completely replaced hard drive/cpu/motherboard (not for bf4 but I've had this issue since release)

Uninstall/reinstall Origin/BF4/Plugin

Special permissions in Windows firewall + Other firewalls

Completely redownloaded everything on my computer onto a new harddrive and still doesn't work...

Got betterbattlelog

Contacted support

Spent hours upon hours searching Google and EA archives

Tried many many many different filter combinations

Changed drivers (many different times)

Gone through multiple anti-viruses

Look the list goes on...point being I had this issue on release, with a different setup. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it a little bit after and the issue still happened. Then I changed setup once and reinstalled it again. Still there. Then my computer broke and re installed it a final time now and still no servers. I get 2 at best. Does EA care? Can I get any sign that they do? Isn't the point of Answer HQ so that EA doesn't have to answer peoples problems, instead they get the community to guess and take potshots on how a problem might be fixed?

    Still. Not. Working.

Yes I have tried different browsers, is this proof that answers from EA is useless?

(It fails to even show every server I've been on, for when one server shows up)

I'm disgruntled because I still think a game that almost completely relies on a browser is and will always be the most unintelligent game design known to mankind, excluding the plethora of other bad decisions developers have been making. If they can't fix it or change it after this long....

  • No EA is not useless lol but after 17 years of PC games every game has issues depending what is going on the pc  or programs on a PC. Sometimes yes its a game issue but most it is from a PC as I found out the  hard way lol.

Lets try a Clean Boot to rule out a program on your PC I am thinking it could be the firewall doing it. Also do this for settings as they help BF4 run more smooth...

    Run the game as Administrator:
Go to the Origin games folder (C:\Program Files (x64)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and find Bf4.exe. Right click it and go to PROPERTIES, then COMPATIBILITY and check the box next to RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Do the same with BF4_x86.exe as well.

    Run Origin as Administrator:
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin and right click on Origin.exe and go to properties. Then go to compatibility tab and check the box next to RUN AS ADMIN.

    Disable Origin in game:
In Origin - Application settings - Origin in Game - disable Origin in game

Origin Cloud Storage turn it off
    Origin, settings, General

Make Sure BF4 is set to 64bit if your windows is 64bit
1- open origin and go to My Games
2-Right click BF4 and go to Game Properties
3-Under when launching this game set it to x64 and check off disable origin in game.
4- Hit apply REBOOT your PC and then test your BF4

    Reboot PC test BF4

Try a clean boot : run a Clean Boot: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/
This should ensure that no programs are interfering in the background.

Below are programs known to make issues in BF4

Disable Mantle if you have it and try Direct X, Turn OFF Anti-Aliasing Deferred in video card settings in game. If you have page file turned off then turn it back on as this can make errors even with 32gigs ram.

Others have said if they uninstall MSI Afterburner issues / crashing is stopped. So if you have this installed remove program and test BF4. Also look at other programs as Asus Game First Service, Razer synapse, Razer Cortex, Qualcomm Killer Service , Fraps, EVGA Precision, Geforce experience, be sure to turn off the streaming function that is enabled by default ,Raptr, RivaTuner , ASRock eXtreme Tuner, Steam, Skype, aero ,Overwolf extra program in teamspeak and xfire are known to make issues as well. And I am sure more programs not in my list yet turn one off at a time and test BF4.

Uninstall the HD Audio Driver from the video card driver install add/remove programs. This silly thing makes issues in BF4 for some. Reboot then repair BF4 to be safe.

If all this fails to fix it then try this...

    C:\Users\your PC Name\Documents\Battlefield 4

BF4 folder in my documents holds game configs and screen shots even if BF4 is installed on different drive. When you uninstall BF4 it does NOT remove this folder. So when you install the game again you can still have the same issues. Even if its not a new install it is still worth trying as the game cfg could be mucked up.

1- Go to my Documents and remove BF4 folder place it on your Desktop for now.
2- Be warned you do have to set up your in game settings again.
    3-Repair BF4
4- When done go test your game. If it fails reboot your PC and run repair game again and test BF4.

This may or may not help, but I had the same issue awhile back, I remember doing something on the filter of the server where you look for specific servers. I cant remember what it was specificly but you may want to try playing with the number of players region and modes. Hope this helps.

Zorlacc you are mistaken when you say that EA is not useless.  Allow me to explain.

The problem is not the presence of bugs in a given software title.  The problem is when the developer CHOOSES NOT TO FIX SAID BUG/S for years at a time.

Battlefield has suffered substantial issues with its server browser ever since Battlefield 2 when I believe if you failed to connect to a server it wouldn't show in the list until a reboot.

There was an issue in Grand Theft Auto 4 where textures wouldn't load.  Many people were frustrated with it.  A jerry rigged work around was discovered where if you tabbed out of the game and back it might sometimes fix it.

This isn't good enough guys.  We need software developers to be held accountable for issues they choose not to fix.  For example I can't believe that the bug when flying aircraft in BF4 where there is no sound except for the guns is still happening after all of this time.  It is really annoying and I don't understand why developers think that it's OK to allow such bugs to persist.

It just so happens that during a certain period of time I bought 4 games including Battlefield Bad Company 2, GTA4, an Assassin's Creed game and something else only to discover that NONE OF THEM WORKED CORRECTLY TO THE POINT OF BEING BROKEN AND ME NEEDING A REFUND I COULD NOT GET!!!

In AC the problem was there was this little teeny tiny issue where your save game would revert to where it was hours ago.  I put up with it for 2 or 3 times because the game was so fun but when it really hit me is when I said enough.

Again: it is not so much the presence of these issues that is the problem; though yes I do take offense with games being released in a broken state for a significant % of the gaming population.  It is the developers choosing NOT TO ADDRESS such major issues and leaving me with a situation where they have basically stolen my money.

Rockstar chose not to fix that bug in GTA4 until GTA5 and they don't deserve my money (yes they got it anyway).  And now in part 5 you STILL have to tab out to fix problems only now we've moved on to greener pastures where the game stutters horribly during driving scenes.

This is not acceptable and we need some kind of federal regulation forcing game makers to either fix their problems or give us a way to get a refund.  Origin's 1 hour policy is not good enough.
