[SOLVED] SOLUTION for "not launching" problem!

Ok guys listen. I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM!

I contacted an EA advisor and I did the following steps:

How to create an EA Classic Name
1. Go to Pogo.com.
2. Click on "Register" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions and create a Pogo account under
your current Origin email address.
4. Navigate to https://profile.ea.com and login using your EA Master
ID/EA account.
Note: If you get directed to Origin.com, please go back to
https://profile.ea.com
5 . Click on "Add Persona" under "Select a Default Persona".
6. Select the radio button next to “existing EA Classic Screen Name”.
7. Login with your created Pogo account name (or email address) and password.
8. Click on "Add Persona". The Pogo screen name should now appear in
the Persona list with “(EA Classic Screen Name)” displayed beneath.

After you have done this, contact an EA advisor at http://help.ea.com.

1. go to help.ea.com

2. on the right hand side, click "Contact Us"

3. "What can we help you with?" -> type "Battlefield 1942" -> click "Find Solutions"

4. In the second dropdown, check "General Technical Support" -> click "Find Solutions"

5. Click "I still need help"

6. Click "Chat now" or "Call me" (when in the US)

7. Wait until an advisor come up

The advisor says that you have to log out @ Origin.

Now he is going to fix the issue.

Quote from EA Advisor: "Yes, I added entitlements on your account. Also, creating EA Classic name helps to resolve your issue ."

If he is done. Log in again and here you go, the game starts.

Before the advisor fixed the problem I recognized that I did not have a product key for BF 1942 although it is free to play. After the fix, I now have a product key.

This should work for all of you guys.

Please write your result here.

Tim

P.S.: This issue does not occur because of your system! It's because of the issue mentioned above.

this "solution" just demonstrates that someone or someone's entire team should be fired for releasing a product that will nto work for such a large number of customers.

I never knew anything about Origin until very recently, got a game though it that is ...nice, but was rather happy to see they were making a game I purchased years ago available for free. So I "buy" the game for $0.00 and download it while I go out. Come back, see it's downloaded and should be ready to play.

NOTHING!! Now I've spent more time looking for "POSSIBLE" solutions to a game I had every expectation of it working, as did the previous (newer) game I downloaded only about a week prior.  I've spent more time combing the forums than i have spent playing the FIRST Origin game I downloaded!!

How about this EA: go back to the proverbial drawing boards, figure how to fix what you screwed up or admit you failed and tell us you CANNOT fix the game. Hell, I liked BF 1942, I'd probably have payed 10 bucks or so for it. Not now, not after spending an inordinate amount of time for a game that was supposed to be fun. This 'incident' has sucked all the potential fun.

It just appears to me that EA has very little clue about how to seell working games online. Back to Steam for me cannot say I've ever had any issues with purchasing a game fro them and not being able to play it once it was downloaded. this is just horrible customer service. HORRIBLE!

okay, I was being an as...unkind. I bit the bullet and id all the suggested steps and did something else while waiting for the call back. The EA rep was VERY cool and helpful. He tried adding the entitlements to no avail, BUT he was not satisfied to leave it at that. He (for lack of remembering the terms he used)( uninstalled the game from my account on his end then added it back on with entitlements, etc. after that it worked - he was as surprised as I was, but hey it works. He explained that on 64bit systems there are lots of issues that cropped up, but to their credit they do have folks in tech support willing to go through extra steps to try to solve issues. My apologies to the folks at EA, and my thanks.

Just another reply to say this worked for me too. Ronnel was very helpful and once connected took about 10 mins overall to get sorted.

  • Thanks so much, it worked :D

For those wondering what to say when contacting EA, just ask them to un-install and re-install the game from your account, it has to be from their end to reload the entitlements properly

I'm not doing this.  Origin can hang if this is the level of support they offer.
