Solved

Thrown/Kicked from server every single game BF1

For the last month or so I cannot stay in an online game for very long. I will start up BF1 and start an online game, either conquest or operations. I will play for a few minutes and then every other player will freeze in place and few seconds later I'm kicked from the game.

Well game will stop and send me back to main menu. After this I cannot start a new multiplayer game unless I restart entire game.

Sometimes it will happen directly after starting a game other times I can play for some time before this will happen. I have tried a few possible solutions, of which nothing has helped. I fear now that it could be the fair play issue people are reporting, but I have no idea how to check this.

Things I have done in an attempt to resolve this:

1 - Give ps4 a static IP
2 - Open the suggested ports as suggested by EA, Dice
3 - Cut out the middle router and directly to the modem
4 - Replaced my cables with new ones just in case there was issue with cables
5 - Replaced modem
6 - Recently upgraded my ps4 to ps4 pro (Issue persists on both consoles) - newly installed the game and did not transfer saved game or anything from old ps4
7 - Thought I might have packet loss, so turned on Battlefield 1 stats reporting in game and no packet loss based on different forum.
8 - Made sure PS4 and BF1 has latest updates
9 - Switched on the in game stats thing that monitor traffic between ps4 and server (will share screenshots and video if possible of this)
10- Followed EA suggestion and reset licenses
11 - Also, I have also tried disconnecting Ethernet and only play on wifi (the horror), then I definitely have packet loss (like huge, one in 5 bullets might hit)and game lags, but me getting kicked is farther apart from one another

Nothing has helped so far. I have a really good ping and running on fiber, so upload and download speeds are also good.

I am now running out of options and solutions and this is basically my favourite game, so would love to solve this issue so I can get back to enjoying this specific game.

@EA_Archi and @TheDaddyGamer, so this seem to be a possible solution. Put DNS to google public DNS. Didn't know this is a thing, but seems ISP's are scammers, they hijack traffic when they cant resolve something and then that times out and try to redirect you to advertisement servers. When this fails all goes to sh**.

    See article here - https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

If this still doesn't work it could mean the ISP has done some loop to get past this, then you can try this article - https://hackercodex.com/guide/how-to-stop-isp-dns-server-hijacking/  (with this one you need some more skill than I have, so I didn't follow this, just putting it here as this will be last resort)

I have now played for the last two days without any issue. I set DNS settings on modem side and on PS4, I would do manual setup rather to set secondary dns as well.

On my old PS4, without reinstalling game and having easy setup (auto IP select) game ran without kicking me. Please note that ps4 will pick up the dns setting automatically if it is setup on modem.

On ps4 pro, I manually set IP and dns settings Primary DNS 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4, same effect, no kicking from servers anymore.

If you do not want to go into modem, try setting DNS only on PS4, i did not try this path.

Hope this works for anyone else with same issue. @TheDaddyGamer if you have tried this, let us know if it works for you as well, then one can accept it as a solution, currently i have this as possible solution as I'm still testing with other games as well, but so far it looks good.

@TheDaddyGamer also check the QOS of your modem settings. I have done so many things that its probably the combination of things working together. But as I said, I am also still testing it, but so far I havent had any issues.

    QOS - https://www.howtogeek.com/75660/the-beginners-guide-to-qos-on-your-router/

Then setup your Lan connection manually (Best done if you have static IP), this article explains nicely - https://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-ps4/

you PS4 setting should look as follows

    IP Address - <your static ip>

    Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0

    Default Gateway - <your modem ip - usually 192.168.1.1>

    Primary DNS - 8.8.8.8

    Secondary DNS - 8.8.4.4

I also set my MTU to 1473 instead of the 1500 - "An MTU size of 1473 is almost a magic number. Reducing the size of the MTU has one significant use, and that is to reduce/eliminate/avoid datagram ("packet") fragmentation. Every active device between your PS4 and PSN's servers has anMTU, and most will be 1500"

I would suggest you go into modem and change few setting there as well.

If you do not feel comfortable going into modem then ask a friend who is in IT.

Remember there is a reset button on modem, so if you do screw up you can press this button and all will go back to default, I had to do this three times in this whole adventure.

If you still have issue, please share the steps you have followed.

@TheDaddyGamer, no sorry. I don't think we even in same region, cause I do not know virgin media. But most ISP's work in similar manner and have forums of their own for specific questions to them.

If you, however, have question I can try and help.

Or someone else might know who reads this thread.

I do not think it is your router. I'd say try the steps as discussed in this thread first. If still not working switch ISP. Even with the steps mentioned in this thread the problem came back after a few months. Then I found out my ISP did updates and switched their backend. They refused to admit it was their fault so I switched ISP and now I have no more issues. As mentioned your ISP will sometimes regulate your traffic and try to send request time outs to some * server and that's when things go wrong. But I really don't think it's your router, because I replaced everything when I went through this.
