Unable to launch game since 1.24 (Ps4)

Recently went to re-install bf4 (had to delete it to make room for games on the ps4's sub par hdd size) as I got the itch to play it again. The game initializes, starts the download for patch 1.24, downloads that without issue, but then launching the game responds with an error that says the disc may be dirty or scratched (it isnt) and can't be read. If I put the console into rest mode and suspend the game, it gets around this error, but it generally gives me the error again soon after.

I know it isn't the disc for 2 reasons, 1 - its clean as a whistle & 2 - if I delete the game data and start it up again while being offline, it runs fine without the patch. I also know the disc read laser is fine because other games work without issue. This leads me to believe there's an issue with the patch itself.

Anyone got a workaround? I've seen a bunch of threads about this (most from a few years ago) from other users on multiple forums, but no fix for it.

I raised a support ticket and it ended up as "closed" with the response being to check in these forums - great support EA (/sarcasm)

Tried this before and after changing the HDD as well (recently upgraded to a 2tb Seagate firecuda hybrid and it's damn good) if that matters

Does rebooting your network help fix this for you?

Try unplugging the power to the modem and router for about 5 minutes. If you have your PS4 on WiFi, try plugging it in directly to your router with an Ethernet cable when downloading the update for the game.

Anyone??

Went through the chat support and that ended with "I'll email you a list of things to try to troubleshoot" and the chat ending followed by an email that was the equivalent of "this support ticket is now closed, kthxbai" and that was it.

Too much to ask that I get to play a game I bought??

hi, I'm having that as well. It says or my disc is dirty or ps4 cannot read and my battlefield 4 disc is super clean. I've downloaded the 1.24 update and it doesn't install the multiplayer, it keeps it o 61% all the time and it doesn't install it. I've tried to download it again and install battlefield again

i cant even play the game after updating this stupid patch
everytime i open the game its says downloading update and applying your updates ,but it never finish

Hey @Player_49fmpdhd Do you have any other updates its trying to download?

Also worth a try to do a power cycle.

How to Power Cycle:

Turn off and/or unplug the device.

Wait at least 30 seconds.

Plug in the device and/or turn

im having this problem. game campaign works perfectly fine. but as soon as i update to v1.24 and it installs, suddenly disc cannot be read. How do i solve this?

Let me know if these steps help fix it for you.

Make sure that your PS4 has the latest system software update

Perform a power cycle. Touch the power button on the front of the PS4 for at least 7 seconds (until the system beeps twice). Turn it back on after 1 minute. Launch the game.

If you are using an external hard drive, try uninstalling the game and disconnect the hard drive, then reinstall the game on the internal hard drive with the internet disconnected.
