Virus detected in BF4 game files?

This virus was detected in my BF4 game files the other day when I booted up my PC (I am using Bitdefender Internet Security 2017). I have had Bitdefender installed since the day this PC was built and it is highly unlikely i downloaded an infected file with a virus that is camouflaging itself inside of other files (I never download random apps or files on my gaming PC). I also have my security settings maxed out across the board. After a bit of research it appears this detected ransomware is a legitmate attack, and typically as far as I know ransomware attacks will happen when a PC is booted up. Just wondering if this is a false positive? I don't know why after all this time it's been detected, and besides that I haven't even opened origin in months which means none of my game files have been updated and could cause a false positive.

I would really appreciate some answers!

  • @ParmaJ0N Hello. I think there are no reasons to worry about this. If you go to this folder \Battlefield 4\__Installer\DLC\Xpack6\__Installer , you will see that Cleanup is an Origin service for this expansion pack.  Sometimes an antivirus accidentally thinks such files as a virus, in fact it's not so. Just add this file as a exceptions to your Anti- virus.

    Hello @ParmaJ0N

The game files themselves contain no harmful software whatsoever. If you have some doubts, you might consider reinstalling Battlefield 4.

    Cheers,
