tl;dr release all guns except maybe developer ones, set the exchange to a schedule, pipe dream requests of getting developer guns, a final weapon balancing, mortar truck camping fix...
I mean all weapons. If I were a manager at EA, I'd like to reduce costs on old titles while keeping my customers happy. Here's what I what do:
1) Set the scrap exchange to a DAILY rotating schedule. Ideally game mode of the week would be rotating as well. This would reduce costs of a programmer updating it each week, and reduce dissatisfaction among fans because the schedule would simply rotate through in an orderly, scheduled fashion rather than in a random or reactionary way.
2) Release all BFV preorder guns: M1919 SMG, Fedorov-Degtyarev, BAR M1918A2, Mosin-Nagant M38 Carbine, M1911A1) All special event weapons: (Barbed Wire Bat, Coupe Coupe, Arditi Dagger, Arerebo) and the M1911 Doughboy (This SHOULD be released since the redemption process doesn't exist for ONLY console users!) I would love if the Developer weapons (C96 Export, Howdah Pistol Sweeper) were released as well, but that's a longshot IMO.
I think this would resolve 90% of the problems that are presented on the EA Answers BF1 page from what I've seen.
Additional Pipe Dreams that likely won't happen:
1) A final weapon balancing: Reduce rate of fire on the SMG 08/18 to 600RPM to machine the LMG 08/18 rate of fire. This would balance this vastly overpowered weapon. Add glint to telescopic LMG's, decrease reload time of the RSC SMG by 1s, M1906 Selb by 0.75, the M1912 MaschinePistole by 0.5. Alternatively, the RSC SMG could get a damage but inside 11m to be a 2 shot kill to match the RSC1917 medic SLR. Mini grenade needs to return to a count of 2, the thing is basically never used except as a troll weapon now because it simply can't be used except as a finisher, but the impact grenade is a significantly better choice in that role. Reduce the number of bombs the Ilya-Muromets carries by 1. There are lot more suggestions I have to fix some of the overpowered weapons in the game as they make half the other weapons in the game irrelevant, and it reduces fun in gameplay as 80% of all assaults use the SMG08, which wasn't even a real gun. I'm sure some people will disagree with this sentiment.
2) Eliminate mortar truck spawns from any sector in operations where the enemy cannot spawn an airplane. Mortar trucks are only good for farming kills, deprive the attacking team of a spawn point, increase firepower, & objective push. We should at least have some way to combat them at all times, since they camp so far out of bounds and literally are impossible to kill (obviously not balanced). These locations are Suez, Amiens, Ballroom Sector 1, Sinai Desert last sector, St. Quentin 1st sector... The list goes on. Obviously we shouldn't get rid of the mortar truck because people do use it (Not sure how much fun staring at a mini map is way out of bounds for an hour and half is) but it should still be allowed but the enemy team deserves some form of recourse.
