Why can I play Battlefield one multiplayer without Gold?

I recently updated battlefield one for my XBOX. After the update, a message on the start menu said that I needed a "EA account" to play online, so I created a EA account and it allows me to play multiplayer but the weird thing is that I don't have Xbox gold yet it still allows me to play multiplayer. I do have my Xbox one linked to my WIFI but it doesn't have a Gold membership. I hope I'm not being charged for this multiplayer.

  • HI @ADFSDF1996!

Form what i knew a Gold membership was required to play online in battlefield 1.

But they could have changed their politics and you might be able to play without gold membership now.

The sure thing is that you won't be charged for playing online!

    Hey @ADFSDF1996,

on EA's side of things there's no need to have an XBox Live Gold membership, that's a Microsoft thing - same for PSPlus on PlayStation. So there's no pay as you play charge. You pay the game, Premium or DLC, if you choose to, and on consoles, you usually pay the monthly fee for online services.

Are you sharing your console with somebody else by any chance? There's a way to share the Gold membership on a console using the "home Xbox" functionality.

  • Hi @ADFSDF1996

Im thinking maybe u had a friend over and he put his account on your console or someone added their account on your console and they have gold membership, this would allow your console to be shared and so you are both using the same mevership... I do this on ps4 but with premium me and a friend are sharing it.

If i helped pls grant XP

    Cheers and happy shooting
