For your thought on getting the red beret for tankers, I have seen scouts have the red beret, so it's not that.
yeah I've seen that, maybe its lvl 20 engineer? or assault? its bugging me...
Scanned a few posts on reddit and people were saying intially Tankers could have them on the best squad screen later on people mentioned it being part of Scout Progression around rank 25.
There is a special blue facepaint you get and supposedly, with it equipped and no helmet is selected, the red beret will be default.
I can't confirm any of that but i know i've seen people in game with the beret so something's up
