Countries strictly using only their weapons

So, this has bothered me for awhile now and the friends that I play with agree that it is as well. When you’re playing as a British soldier and you’re fighting against the Germans, I really don’t want to get killed by German with an Arisaka rifle, a lunge mine, M1 Grande, etc. etc. My main problem is I hate being killed by guns that the opposing team should not have at their disposal or it’s not possible for them to have weapons that don’t belong to their own country. This main problem is that I strongly dislike the fact that any player is able to use any gun they choose to fight with in a game. I want diversity in game modes. I want players to use weapons that are from their own countries. I think this will make players have to try new weapons instead of just relying on using snipers or shot guns, etc. I can understand that a lot of the basic weapons that you start off with when you first get the game are your basic German, British, Danish, Swiss and Italian weaponry and that’s totally fine. A lot of the time, especially for Germany, weapons were confiscated and or picked up by soldiers who either won a battle or took over a city, so on and so forth. What I’m getting at, it’s not realistic to have a German or Brit to carry a Type 2A in the European Theatre of War or a Japanese soldier to be carrying an M1 Carbine and a Bazooka.

  • I actually did this for fun: rearranged all my gear according to the faction. (You need to disable the auto-copy function set by default for soldier classes).

I could see this as a limited time game-mode. But they also need to add an assault-class weapon for the Japanese because they have none! :-)

  • The game would become pretty unbalanced if it was 100% authentic. The army buff types really need to let this go in my opinion.

  • I totally understand why you'd like that but personally I really would not want to be restricted like that. Mostly because I find it fun to change up my weapons.

  • G'day @T-Sitzy

You are absolutely right in the sense of historical accuracy, however there are a few problems with this, key one being not every faction has equal amount of native guns available. This would massively unbalance the game and as this game is an arcade game and not strictly a simulator game, it should be best left as is.

The moment you go down the historical route, every person that's done a 5 minute Google search who now believe they're experts, will be weighing in on the topic and things will go south very quickly.

It's a game to kick back with your friends, have a laugh, maybe launch the tractor on Marita into orbit and become WWII astronauts.

Just enjoy the game for what it is; an arcade style shooter with a loose realism style weapon mechanic 🙂

Only for stats, dogtags assignments I disagree.

We had in the past medals in BF1 you had to be white russia.  And the same as defend or attack kills.

Game matching would be a pain and as there is no team switching players will join and leave.

  • You can also keep the melee/sidearm/gadget side "authentic" while pretending you have stolen a better main gun. 🙂
