Firestorm High Ping (Brazil)

Hello EA Answers HQ Community!

-As all Brazilians (like me) know, Firestorm is almost unplayable at our region due to the high latency, the infamous LAG.

With the release of the mode the feedback about it was intense and constant, in the second day EA/DICE provided us a fix and stated:

"Matchmaking in Battlefield V: Firestorm requires a certain amount of players to be connecting at the same time to initiate a server. Unfortunately, in some regions with lower player populations, this increases matchmaking time or forces players to connect to pingsites that are more populated."

After that the problem was almost completely resolved on PS4, but remained on PC and Xbox One, probably due to the lower number of Battlefield players.

Even on PS4 it's difficult to find servers running the Solo mode, or Squads, from 06:00am UTC to 20:00pm UTC.

- But my intention here is to create a catalog of this issue - that I'll be sharing through all Brazilian community - and make some suggestions:

• It would be great if the matchmaking takes longer to find a match;

• The pre-round waiting for players to connect could also take longer;

• The game should warn the player of the inexistence of Brazilian servers at the moment, before joining them;

• A ping (ms) limit could be set by the user, so the matchmaking does not initiante a game if none servers below that value are available;

• A Firestorm server manual search should be added, showing matches at the pre-round.

- Most of all, we would absolutely love to hear something from EA/DICE about it, even if it is a "we can't say nothing".

Have a great day y'all;

  • Hey people;

    An addition that I've forgotten to mention yesterday:

    Jeffrey Braddock, North American Community Manager for Battlefield, has commented about this issue on Twitter, saying:

    "The team is aware of the issues and working on solutions. When there's not enough people matchmaking for that specific mode (Squads or Solos) in that region, rather than have 5-10 minutes waiting in the lobby, it matchmakes you to the nearest populated region." Source.

    In the same thread of tweets, Julian Manolov, developer of Software Engineer for Battlefield, commented with Braddock about the possible fixes that could be implemented to the matchmaking, leaving clear though that at his position at DICE this is not his function, he said:

    "Seems there are players who want to have the option to turn off that timeout and are ok with waiting for longer. Saw it mentioned few times over the last few days". Source.

    "Or maybe a message after those 5-10 minutes - 'We found a server in a different region you can join - with the reply choices Join or Wait'". Source.

    These comments are of great importance, because they show that the problem is not only with the quantity of players available in that region, but also confirms that there's an issue with the matchmaking system.
    It also shows us that the team is aware, not only of the problem, but also of all fix suggestions and working on it.

    I ask you (the Community, just as myself) to keep supporting good ideas that can improve our experience in the Battlefield V and wait for more information.
