Exactly as you describe it, in my case they gave me the skins but they appeared duplicated and gave me the option to discard them and get some company coins.

I haven't tried to redo the assignments yet, but I'm guessing the same thing will happen.
- But it is a relief that only happens with the proficiency assignments with this weapon.
since it is easier to do 4 headshots while you are in an objective area in one life for the last stage, instead of 10 for mastery lol...
