Micro-shuttering after BF5 Update

Hello,

I have a lot of micro-shuttering in game, looks like fps drops even though my fps are statics using fps origin display. Also my connection is fine. (I have often the square icons meaning fps drops).

I had the same problem before the BF5 Update, but I disabled DX12 and it worked perfectly. So DX12 was the problem.

The problem came back after the BF5 Update. I tried enable disable DX12 again, I have the last nvidia update (tried with the older one also), but nothing works.

One thing to know is that the open Beta was running fine.

Would appreciate some helps, thank you🙂

I'm having the same basic issues. I have noticed here and in bug reports that many people are having what appears to be the same symptoms but I have yet to see even a single theory much less a fix. I'm going to start posting in these threads to at least let people know they arent alone in this as it kind of feels like they are if you just go thread by thread.

    Here is mine

One thing Id ask to check if you can is your GPU usage. If you dont use Afterburner, Windows Task Manager itself actually has a basic GPU utilization graph under the Performance tab. Play a game and see what value you get there. It should be basically 100% (as it is in single player, the game menu, and pre-patches). Low GPU utilization hardly leads to any logical conclusion without more information but its a huge red flag that indicates a serious problem at the same time and is an important metric.

  • Hey @ExplodingMo,

Have you tried the following steps?

    1. Disable Origin in-game Overlay, and other Overlays you might be using(Discord, Nvidia GeForce Experience, etc)

    2. Check your Frame Rate Limiter settings in game, in the Graphics Video Settings, and make sure it's set to 60 or 120 depending on your Build.

    3. Connection steps: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/connection-troubleshooting-advanced-pc/

    4. Clean Uninstall/Reinstall of the latest Drivers

    5. Clean Boot: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

Try some of these steps, and let us know if the stuttering improves for you.

    Thank you 🙂

    Hey @iluminatethesky,

I did the first 2 steps, still unplayable with DX12, but much better with DX11. Still lagging though, and not enjoying as I was before the update.

    As @STi322 said, I checked GPU usage. With DX12 it's 100%, but with DX11 it's 70% maximum.

    Knowing I have a * gpu (GTX960), I think if it could reach 100% with DX11, I could play with a fluid BF5.

Does anyone know how can I fix this ? I didn't check GPU usage before the beta, so I can't say if it was 100% or not.

    Thank you!

  • I have the same issue with a Vega 64. FPS went from 150-200 to 90-120 (low settings). I also got very annoying micro stutters. I stopped playing since.

A friend of mine has the same issue with a GTX 1070.
