NVidia last another driver update 417.35 that fixes some specific issues with GTX 1080.
My friends have GTX 1080 and most of them had issues with DX11 or DX12 you can try to toggle DX12 on/off and see which one works well for you.
I have some friends that say DX12 on works fine and others that say DX11 works better.
Another trick is within the Nvidia Control panel set Performance/Power Management to "Max Performance or Max Power"
Same issue, Random FPS drops, my fps was also 90+ but stutters down to 50-60 and feels laggy for around a second. Was fine before the Overture update (Wasn't a driver issue as i only updated this after i was having the issue). Looking at the gpu/memory/cpu monitors while ingame, everytime i get a spike the only thing that changes is a drop in cpu usage from around 90% to 60% then back up again.

This perhaps could help ? - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/PC-BF5-crash-to-desktop-on-clean-install/m-p/7277349/highlight/true#M5680
It points to what is always said, makes sure everything is updated and anything unnecessary is turned off.
Good luck!

Everything is updated, i got a nice boost in fps from the windows 1809 update. Everything else is closed via task manager except for windows processes) But still get the random drops since the Battlefield update, no other games (Inc BF1) get this issue Just BFV specific, It's not just me having the issue, loads of people are regardless of PC specs etc it's definitely a BFV issue and needs investigating ASAP, it all happened since the 50% increase in RTX patch, someones buggered up somewhere.

Do you have a 1080 or 2080 - the RTX/DXR stuff only affects 2080 gpu users..?
I have a 1080 - no problems. I wish I could take an ISO of my setup and give it to other players! lol
I feel your pain though...
Best of Luck!
