While i mostly use pouches, medic packs and ammo packs left in the right place can be hugely helpful.
Firstly because they dont rely on you being alive to work. If you are going into a grinder, leaving med packs or ammo packs just outside or at entry to a grinding area can help other team mates suppress and counterthe enemy, especialky as now even being in proximity activates healing or reload.
The second reason is they dont require you to be near the action directly especially as a support player carrying an mmg or a medic with a bolt action rifle- admitantly both defensive plays but sometimes required especially in games like breakthrough or frontlines.
