Re: Green Flickering

@narion_k There could be different reasons and sources for this to happen. You say you have tried different solutions to similar problems. Can you tell us what you tried? That might make it easier to pinpoint where the problem is coming from.

The first thing that comes to my mind is a problem with G-Sync/Free-Sync and you monitor. There have been several reported problems of flickering caused by varible refreshrate implementations.

@N4v1s I don't use any kind of adaptive sync because my GPU and monitor are incompatible with each other for that function. I tried changing TAA High to TAA Low; I tried disabling Origin in-game overlay; I tried turning v-sync off; and I tried enabling "Use NVIDIA color settings" in the NVIDIA control panel. BFV and the Nvidia driver updated to the latest versions.

@narion_k That sounds quiet good already. I often run into issues using the lastest dpu drivers. For example I´m still running Nvidias version 432.0. Depending on the generation of GPU you have, you could try installing an older version of the driver.

@N4v1s Thanks for the suggestion. I always use the latest drivers because unfortunately if I don't, the latest version of Windows 10 that I have will install it for me without asking first, at a time of its choosing. It has done things to me before like install a new graphics driver while I was in the middle of playing a game.

@EA_Atic Just now upon your suggestion, I uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers and then installed the latest ones. Unfortunately the green flickering continues to occur as soon as I reach the main menu after loading up BFV.

@narion_k I had a problem with textures in the game before. It wasn´t a flickering like you are describing, but it made the gamemenu look bugged. A reinstallation of the game fixed that for me. So you might as well just try repairing the gamefiles and possibly reinstalling the game.

@N4v1sYou're right, it was worth trying. I repaired the game, but that didn't work. I reinstalled it, but that didn't work. I changed each of the advanced video settings, but that didn't work. I turned all the video settings off or low, and that didn't work. I tried fullscreen, borderless, and windowed modes to no effect.

Now that I got Star Wars: Squadrons, I'm having a similar issue there. There are elements that flicker in and out while I play. No issues with about 20 other games I've played recently.

Since I tried reinstalling both the graphics drivers and BFV, and I only have issues in two games, I'm having trouble tracking down the source. I'm considering reinstalling the OS, but that's a whole day's effort in itself without any guarantee of fixing anything.

I solved it. Because I have been playing BFV for so long without issue (until recently), I tried to think of all the things that could have changed. One of those is my hardware itself as it ages. I disabled my GPU overclock, and that stopped the flickering. It seems that my graphics card can no longer handle the core overclock that I was using, at least in BFV. I've been using the same overclock settings for 3.5 years, so it didn't initially occur to me that this could be the issue! My hardware is probably just getting worn out at this point.

Thanks for getting me to think of all the things that could cause this problem. Hopefully this thread will help someone else in the future.

@narion_k Nice to hear you solved your problem. I had my hardware degrading and overclocks not working anymore before, but that just made my game crash. I didn´t think it could cause issues like that. 🙂
