It's a simple fix in concept but there will be consequences for all parties in the long run I think. Even now, starting a search at the same time as your friends (especially at non-peak hours) gives you both a high chance of getting into the same match which can lead to teaming; allowing users to choose specific regions is almost the same as choosing specific servers.

I have to admire your dedication to playing with very high ping though - the moment I get switched from US West to European servers I become absolutely useless, let alone Asia or Oceania... I've mentioned to some Aussie friends in the past, the only sure-fire way to get good matches in your region is to create a community, whether it be on Facebook or Discord or whatever, and hammer out a specific time to play; I get this can be a major pain but it would be the only way to make the majority of players happy. You may not mind playing with high ping, but the other players in that server might find it taxing.
