Shoot Ice w/ Explosives = Ice Breaks, Tank & Infantry Fall In

As a WWII buff, I've heard of many instances where dropping bombs meant quicker acceleration and longer flights. If you're on the biggest bomber plane and you drop your entire payload, shouldn't you accelerate a little quicker, and even fly faster? This may make even more sense if you upgrade your plane to carry more bombs. In which case, it should make you slower if you take on that upgrade.
