Steam Input for DualSense Controller not working

Hello,

I own Battlefield V on Steam, and it seems I cannot use my PS5 DualSense controller to play the game. I have the official layout for BFV active in the controller settings under Steam, but there's no controller response whatsoever in BFV. I have tried running BFV with Steam Input both off (which I knew wouldn’t work, but I tried anyway) and on, but still nothing. I would've tried DS4Windows to emulate the DualSense to using Xinput, but the app is blocked by EA Anticheat.

Does anyone have a solution for getting a DualSense controller to work on BFV? I don't mind the Xbox button prompts.

  • I tried those suggestions but it didn't work for me. However, I discovered that having EA App's In-game overlay turned off affects Steam Input and Steam Overlay from working in some EA games. I turned the EA In-game overlay back on and now both Steam Input and Steam Overlay are working.

    Found the solution from here.

  • Hello @BallsOfDemocracy,

To get your PS5 DualSense controller working with Battlefield V on Steam, you can try the following steps:

    1. Steam Settings:

      • Open Steam and go to Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings.
      • Make sure "PlayStation Configuration Support" is checked. This allows Steam to recognize your DualSense controller.
    2. Big Picture Mode:

      • Launch Steam in Big Picture Mode. This can sometimes resolve recognition issues.
      • In Big Picture Mode, navigate to Library, select Battlefield V, and go to Manage Game > Controller Configuration. Make sure the layout is correct and save any changes.
    3. Game Properties:

      • Right-click on Battlefield V in your Steam library and select Properties.
      • Under the Controller tab, try different settings: test with Force Steam Input or Disable Steam Input to see if it makes a difference.
    4. Update Drivers:

      • Make sure your Windows and controller drivers are up to date. Check for any updates in Device Manager.
    5. USB Connection:

      • If you’re using Bluetooth, try connecting the controller via USB. Sometimes wired connections work more reliably.
    6. Disable Other Input Devices:

      • If you have other input devices connected, try disconnecting them to see if there’s a conflict.
    7. Steam Input Per-Game Setting:

      • In the Steam library, right-click Battlefield V > Properties > Controller. Change the Steam Input Per-Game Setting to "Forced On" or "Forced Off" and test.
    8. Try Other Games:

      • To determine if the issue is with Battlefield V or the controller setup, try playing a different game that supports controller input.

If these steps don’t work, you might want to check forums or EA's support for any specific issues related to Battlefield V and controller compatibility. Let me know if you need further assistance!

    Best regards,
