Suggestion: The Reforging of Marita (improving the flow of the maps gameplay)
Marita is a very unique map. It's color palette really sets it apart for a lot of BF players (for a lot not in a good way see: not being able to see what is going on because everything is green/brown).
However what makes it unique for me is the complete lack of any real flanking route. The entire map is centered on a choke point on the one side of this castle topped mountain and basically once C/D are taken by one team it becomes a TDM on E or B, because theres flanking possibility.
I have some suggestions for a re-forging of Marita (please see the linked Jpeg for a visual aid).
For starters lets expand and open up the map a bit:
- Unlock the Castle
- Move C to the castle at the top of the hill and expand the boundary on that part of the map.
- This adds even more vertical layers for the levels of the castle interior/ courtyard where the flag would be.
- theres already paths from both spawns made to get up to the castle because whoever designed this wasn't lazy and perhaps thought it could potentially be a flag point.
- In corporate a third path from the bridge area thats either a: skinny pass up the side of the mountain or (bit more work dev wise) a tunnel that has entrances at the bridge and in an interior of the castle.
- Add a flanking Lane
- Move D to the bridge and leave the area it is currently in as a flanking lane
- this allows people to go from E to B without being in the central chokepoint and allows flanking on the central choke.
For the critic that will come about the massive vertical difference of the castle:
- the devs could easily counter spawn sniping with indestructible/unreachable walls and rocks that surround the edges of the mountain cliff face.
- you would still be able to snipe down onto the 2/3 exposed paths leading up to C
- also see Iwo Jima map, Snipers on the A B Mountain have a huge vertical advantage over the rest of the map so it's not like they haven't allowed it before.
These are all my opinion, but I believe the flow of Marita's gameplay could be greatly improved by this.
