Too early to predict Battlefield 6 / VI ?

The next chronological, untapped era for FPS is the Korean War. It's the US, South Korea, and UN forces against North Korea, China, and even possibly some Soviet Russian interactions.

You'd still get WWII weapons, jet fighters, and the intro of the helicopter. It's a dynamic climate, too, which is very similar to the weather in say, NYC and Chicago or further north. So you can go wild with the weather. Geography is flat but also hilly and mountainous, and there are lots of marine interactions given the peninsula that the two Koreas are located in.

The beginning of it can be the Soviets fighting the Naz*s and kidnapping German scientists. It can play into the Manhattan project and how the secrets of the atomic bomb were stolen by a spy. Then lead the plot smoothly into the Korean War. It can be a smooth transition from BFV to BFVI.

Please make it happen!

EDIT: faction correction.

@SterlingARCH3R Plenty of people that would like to see a BF set in the Forgotten War.

As for NATO, nope. It didn't had any part in the conflict. And the so-called UN forces consisted of South Korea and US. The russians participated at the war only with advisors and trainers for North-Korea and avoided to get dragged into the conflict.

The actual UN forces had enforced armistice periods, as it was their job.

That doesn't mean we couldn't add that. Alternate history can be fun, especially in the games (hiding before the lynching mob would come out and cry "historical accuracy").

We have already seen the Homefront series, where North-Korea takes over the US, or the rebooted Wolfenstein series where the nazis conquered America. There was also Iron Storm, with its world where WW I raged for over 60 years. So, a slightly altered take on that war would provide a fun medium for a BF game. ArmA and the Wargame series are about the Cold War getting hot. And so on.

We can have the period's weapons and vehicles, but with a slightly altered history: US continued to push towards China, escalating the war, the soviets would join in and so on.

Of course we could stick to history, but we would have only 4 factions: US/South Korea on one side and China/North-Korea on the other side.

I doubt that a Korean War BF will happen, especially if EA wants to sell the game in China. A number of games and series are banned in China, due to what the chinese perceive as a threat to national security. BF4 and Hearts of Iron series are banned in China, as China considered that the games affected the country's image and are a threat. So unless the chinese censorship will relax its regulations towards foreign games, any game that involves China won't be possible.

Yeah that was a typo, I meant UN not NATO.

Good point about the Chinese market.

  • I think they might just do a Bad Company 3 next or at least a more modern shooter, since they've already done a WWI title and now a WWII.

Fans will expect it, I fear.

  • Probably a bit early to think about Battlefield 6/VI, if Battlefield V is not even released yet.

So we might better focus on Battlefield V atm.(in my opinion)
Byside that, it's a BFV based Forum section. 😉
