As that would be a great idea for the Battlefield series just remember it can be difficult to add features such as ships and submarines. And as seen with how much stuff is in the game and how intense it already is add features like that to a game could possibly crash the game, meaning too much stuff happening at once.
As battlefield 1942 was a simple mechanic it was very easy to add features like that.
Same with battlefield1
Basically what I'm really trying to say is that it would take the developers AGES to make that sort of content and would over power the frostbite engine. But that's my own opinion on why
As for a medieval battlefield I highly doubt it would go down that road but don't get me wrong maybe in the future they possibly could release a spin off version.
But not for the series where it was born
