Why Monday release?

Community ManagerHey @RyTink, Battlefield V Standard Edition is actually out today, Tuesday the 20 and not on a Monday. The Deluxe Edition has been available to play since last week.
Tuesday is traditionally the day new games are released, it's been the norm since the early 90s and started with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. In the weeks leading up to the release of Sonic, the publishers knocked around a few ideas as to the best way to release the game so as to make it fair as before then, games released on different dates in different places. For Sonic they decided to brand the release day as Sonic 2sday and shipped stock to stores around the world so that the game could release on the same day everywhere and based on the success of the release Tuesdays became the release date for most media. You will find that most CDs and DVDs/Blu-Rays also release on a Tuesday in the US as a result.
