Dead Space - Control issue (walking backwards and looking up)

I got Dead Space from the On-The-House deal long ago, but I have never been able to play it. For some reason, the controls go out of whack, forcing the camera to look up and to make me walk backwards when I do nothing. I can move forward when pressing the correct key, but letting it go forces me to walk backwards. Same with using the mouse for Y-axis manipulation. Move mouse to look down (invert-Y), but not doing so forces camera upward.

Anyone know what it could be? I thought perhaps it was a controller I used for other stuff, but's turned off (and Game controller properties show nothing unusual like stuck axis or buttons). Nothing wrong happening on the desktop or OS operations (Win 8.1).

Ok, I found out what the problem was. I have a Wii U Pro Controller that I use with my PC, but in order for it to act like a compatible joystick controller, I have vJoy installed. This allows me to assign everything from the analog sticks to buttons as if they are those on an actual compatible joystick. This, however, does not work well with Dead Space. When I initially began diagnosing this problem, I removed everything involving this except I forgot about vJoy, so the problem remained. Now that I know that is the problem, I can deal with it. I can disable it before I play Dead Space (and then re-enable it after I'm done). An interesting side-effect from this (other than making it unplayable) is that the game menu when first loading up was not positioned correctly, being either too far down, up, or to the right.

After all this, I wondered if I could use the controller, so I booted up the game and tried it. I did get some control, but not everything worked (and I had no way to assign what did what).

Physically disconnect any control input peripherals other than your mouse and keyboard.

When starting/loading the game do not click or move your mouse or press any keys.

I disconnected everything that wouldn't be needed, but it continues to mess with the controls. I even disconnected the mouse and keybord afterwards, and the problem continued. I'd swipe the mouse to angle in the other direction and immediately disconnected the mouse, but it just rubber-banded right back into the opposite direction. Disconnected the keyboard, and I'd still walk backwards.

Are you using a KB or mouse with their own drivers or are you just using standard window drivers for those?

Try right clicking the game in Origin and if present click on Repair Game.

They both use standard windows drivers. I tried Repair game a couple times since I got it, but it did made no difference. I even uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, but that only seemed to make it worse, as now, I can't use the scroll button on my mouse to scroll down in in-game menus (but scrolling up works fine).

V-Sync was disabled not long after attempting to play the game for the first time. I was getting some major mouse delay with it on (at least a good 250ms).
