Dead Space 2 - black screen on game launch

Played Dead Space 2 a while ago and was trying to run it again.  Same machine, but upgraded OS and video card now.  Game launch causes monitor to go black/off though game still running since I can he...

Hi tazjk,

Please run Windows Update and install all available Important Updates, specifically .Net Framework and C++ Redistributables. Then reboot and retry.

    Thanks for answering.  Done, and rebooted.  Checked for any more important updates.  None.  No change in problem.  FYI, I found a DS 2 patch and downloaded it.  When I try and run the patch .exe, same problem.

      Also ensure you have the most recent non-beta video drivers and DirectX installed.

        Checked video before I started the original question, but verified again in case of any change.  Running Direct X 11, with Windows on auto-update so it's current, too.  Any other ideas?
