Dead Space 2 - black screen on game launch

Years late, but I also found none of the resolution or settings.txt fixes worked. The problem was I'm playing on an xeon with 10+ cores, and the solution is to limit to 10 or less in bios or msconfig advanced boot options.

Five years later I thank you for your answer, thats the only one that worked, limioting tthe number of cores to ten via msconfig. I also have a xeon proccessor, in my case with 12 cores.
