Dead space 2 activation key cross over (steam-origin) problem

Since getting Dead space 2 on steam i was given the activation key with it. i used the activation key on Origin so the game was valid through there. However i cannot access multiplayer what so ever, beacuse it says that the activation key has already been used (which it has not)
