Hi vs32!
I am not sure on which console (yours or the PS3 of your friend) is the reason for this issue, but you may gave him following workarounds as well:
The Media Server Connection allows other devices to connect to your PLAYSTATION 3. Often, the Media Server Connection is known to cause issues when players try to connect to the Internet for online game play.
- Access your Xross Media Bar menu
- Navigate to Settings
- Select Network Settings
- Select Media Server Connection and choose the Disable option.
Turn off the Media Service connection can slower your PS3 internet connection (especially for downloading).
Please enable the following online ports on your connection:
TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 10000-10100, 17502, 42127
UDP: 3659, 14000-14016
For specific instructions on how to open your ports, please visit http://www.portforward.com/ or contact your router manufacturer.
Please keep us updated vs32!

EABASTIAN--these problems still exist. It doesnt make sense if connecting works with other games and not DS3. I should not have to open all ports, fiddle with DMZs and other things for just one game, and still have it not worked. This game will get returned quick if it cannot perform the necessary operations we payed for it to do.
My buddy and I both bought this game last thursday, and since then we got lucky once and were able to play one session. Every other time the infamous "failed to join game" kept appearing.
Please fix this.
