I would recommend to activate your game on Origin. You get the newest client version and can just play the game launching it from your "my games" library.

Redeeming your Game Code through Origin on the web
You can also redeem your code via the web. There is only one location to do this, but you can arrive there in two ways (assuming you are not logged into Origin already). If you are logged in, both urls will take you directly to the redemption page.

2. Log in to your Origin account using your Origin email and password.
3. Select "Redeem Product Code" in the left-hand menu.
4. Enter your product code on the Redeem Your Code page.

2. Click: "Log in now" under "Already have an EA account?"
3. Log in to your Origin account using your Origin email and password.
4. Enter your product code on the Redeem Your Code page.
