[Old Report] Dead Space 3 PS3 Online Pass

@GQman2121 If the pass is not downloadable in the game under downloadable content, that typically means it already is, or the PS store doesn't have it there anymore. Technically you shouldn't even need that pass anymore as it was removed.

There are only a handful of ways to get this downloaded

In-game through the downloadable section
Though the PS store on your console
Through the PS store on a website and send it as a download

If you install the game from a disc, typically it should install that part as well. If it does not though, and the above doesn't work, there isn't another way to obtain it other than a digital code. Disks don't get updated like digital downloads do. This is why they added thee pass for this game and other games.

Ive looked on the line for all steps too, so I can bet all the steps I have found, you did too. Essentially, the above are about the only ways. Xbox does the same IF you have played before. It just downloads it from the 360 menu store.

The webstore for the PS3 was removed a year or two ago. 

The only way to access digital content for Playstation 3 games is via the store on the console itself or through any menus within the game.

It sounds like you're saying there's nothing anyone who has a physical version of this game can do to get online other than rebuy the game digitally, despite a literal option to purchase an online pass being present (yet unavailable to download) within the game. 

@GQman2121  One of the main issues with a physical copy is that they don't get updated because they are hard coded on the CD. The only way for that to be updated is if the game pushes a patch. Since the removal of the online pass itself as needing to be purchased, if the marketplace you are on does not allow it to be downloaded, then I am afraid a digital copy which has been updated would be one of the only other ways to go. We have no control over the Sony store, so unless the online pass is in a players previous purchases or download history, there isn't another way to get that with a physical copy of the game.

How can multiple pieces of DLC (16 to be precise) be available to purchase on the PSN Store, yet the two that are free and allow access to the games full content be unavailable? 

And you're saying that's a Sony issue? 

I paid $10 for the Awakened DLC that is compatible with the physical game. I did that directly from the in-game menu off of the PSN Store. 

Why would paid content be treated any differently than something that is supposed to be free? 

It honestly feels like I'm being punished for NOT buying the game digitally, which is exactly what the online pass was initially intending to accomplish. 

I know - and completely understand - you and anyone else on this board that reps the company have literally zero control over any of this. But be real here: this is absolutely a self manufactured decision to attempt sell a few more digital copies of a game that is a decade old.

I suppose that is at least a reasonable answer considering the overseas online help talk in circles and are saying the game is no longer online despite people on my friends list literally playing it. When you explain this to them, they seem to ignore new information. 

Anyway, I think ultimately I'm going to end up having to use someone else's PSN account and download their online pass file to my machine to use. This is really just unbelievable to have to deal with all these years later. 

@GQman2121 To be honest I've spent a good portion of the day trying to find a way to get it on the PS. I know you can move saves and files on a USB but not games or DLC. I had a disc copy but I can't find it. I wanted to test it myself. I think the two best options are another PSN ID that had it or a digital copy. Even on my end, there isn't anything I could add that would grant that like Mass Effect does with that online pass.

I was lucky enough to find an unused code at a local game shop in my area. 

I can confirm for you, however, that if you purchase the digital version the online pass will be included and you'll be able to hop online and complete the co-op missions. 

I can't confirm if your saves for the disc version will be compatible with the digital though.
