Same happened to me. Had to start again. Did on Story mode to speed run it. Took 6 hours to get back to 7 and I put difficulty back to normal. I now create a save at the start of each chapter and keep it until chapter is done. I use a seperate save or auto save for progress during chapter. Think of it as part of the game now. There's other bugs too in other Chapters from reading other posts and reloading saves is the best fix.
