  • FIXED!!

After exactly 24 hours of trouble shooting, I have solved the problem.  The work around is super simple and takes no more than 5 minutes.  I was able to play this game about a year ago, and when I recently tried I got the SAME EXACT ERROR.

SOLUTION: 1 . Create new user account (make it an administrator just like your main account)

                           2. Run Dead Space 3 in that new user account

                           3. Have fun finally, without wasting anymore precious spare time.

There is some kind of permission error or policy conflict that is probably the root of the issue.  The user account that I was using, and most likely just like you, possibly has a corrupt file or permission conflict in the saved games location.  Despite trying to manually change the permissions, the game would crash right as it said "please wait, searching for saved games"  and the "program stopped" error would come up.

Message to EA:   A lot of people are suffering from this issue. with no definitive solution posted online anywhere.   I hope this can help more than just a few people.

  • I have narrowed down the solution even further.

The issue, specifically in my scenario, is the Dead Space 2 folder in the User/Documents folder, where saved games are located for EA Games.

I have all three versions of Dead Space.   It wasn't until I removed the Dead Space 2 folder from the EA Folder in the User Documents folder, that the crash stopped occurring.

Now instead of Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 folders, I have only Dead Space 3.

  • @kayster14

many thanks for this, just got rid of the Dead Space 2 folder and it's now launching fine without the need for the separate local admin account, your timing on this fix was eerily good, I was just about to contact one of the tech support to get it sorted. 🙂

    @EA_Barry

the fixes provided by @kayster14 worked perfectly for me. I'd say it would be worth getting people to try these simple things first before going into the other fixes, could save a lot of time on both ends

thanks again to both of you for the assistance. I'm away to finally play Dead Space 3 🙂

I too have been having problems with the Exact Same Error Code.

I also tried ALL fixes that are suggested here and on other forums, of which none of them resolved my game crash issue. The fix I came up with is very simple BUT frustrating, Allow me to explain myself.

I've played through Dead Space 3 many times without any problems and suddenly it seemed that after buying and installing the DLC EXPANSION content My game began to crash to desktop.

The game would start fine it seemed without any problems but it was crashing to desktop every time it tried to AUTO SAVE and every time I would try to SAVE AND EXIT. This really upset me so the game went un-played for about 3-4 months.

I had tried to use a save file downloaded from the internet yet that didn't work for me ether.

The solution to my issue was to "REMOVE the Dead Space 3 saved game folder" from the "EA GAMES" folder located in the "documents" folder.

Doing this erases all the saved games BUT IT DID WORK. The game is now playing properly and it is saving properly too. No more game crashes

On the plus side; I still have the DEVIL HORNS even after deleting the saved game files.

Somehow the saved games folder and files became corrupted because removing only the save files from within the dead space 3 folder did not resolve the issue,

It was only after deleting the Dead Space 3 folder and restarting Origin and Dead Space 3 that I was greeted with an AUTO SAVE that worked without crashing.

The game itself replaced the folder and now it seems perfectly fine.

This is the ONLY THING that worked for me! So if you are reading this and/or having problems like mine or other one's discussed here give it a try, It might help.

Loosing my saved games sucks HOWEVER not playing Dead Space 3 sucked more.

Hope this can help someone else....
