Since I initially responded to your post, I've come to the conclusion that something is corrupting the save files and that it is not limited to the PS3 version. There has been very little commonality between the instances however. Some are losing scavenger drones. Some can start new games (different game modes) based off of a previous save but are unable to chapter select or play the save itself.. Others are losing their ability to autosave and unable to progress in any chapters.
I haven't heard if there are any plans for a patch yet, but I do know that it is usually unlikely that they will patch it to repair your saves.
I'm sorry that I haven't been much help, but this one appears to be out of our hands at the moment. You could check Google or this forum for other possible solutions but I haven't been able to find any. If you find one, let us know!

In the meantime, I'd back up of your save games just in case then delete both the saved game and the autosave (not 100% sure how the PS3 version saves). From what I've seen, the game settings and the save slots themselves are related.
The most likely way to install the game that will result in stable games will be to delete the game data, delete the saves, pre-load the game and patch immediately. This will create all new settings files and saves that are in the format of the last patch.
Some people have had saves show corrupt from one version to the next. Also, those that downloaded modified save files from the internet or from other accounts are having problems as well. I don't believe EA intended for people to be sharing saves / backing up older version saves as they have been.
- 13 years agoOk so what your saying is back up my dead space save game and then delete dead space save and dead space from game data ultry and then reinstale the game data first with patch then load backed up saves. Also I thought if your game file was crupted the game would not work at game start up.
Also backed up all my games a month ago onto a external hard drive - Anonymous13 years ago
I'm not saying to reload the backed up saves. I'm saying that you should save them in case a patch does comes out and they suddenly work again.
The reason I suggested following those steps is that it would create the most stable setup to play a new save game and decrease the chance that the corruption will occur again. If it makes you feel any better, I don't like that answer either. I wish I had some information to give you that would fix your saves. Its frustrating that I don't have the answer for you and I'm sure even more frustrating for you to have to restart the game. Hopefully EA will release a patch to correct this problem.
- 13 years agoYa it is a little frustrating but things happen just hop it is the game and not the ps3 ill just wate for a patch and hop that it will fix my issue thanks for all your help.
- 13 years agoSo I just went on google today and apparently if you get some were around 99 percent of weapon parts and then make to many weapons the game will freeze at next save. Some people are saying they had it acer with certain weapon parts. It makes me fell a little better that I'm not the only one with this issue. So at lest I can rest easy knowing that it is the game and not my ps3.
