Can't Attack Summoning Stones

In Draging Age Inquisition on the quest All New, Faded for Her, you are supposed to either attack the summoning stones surrounding the demon or attack the demon itself. After being killed after my first try I didn't go back to that quest for a little while, but when I did I only had the option of attacking the demon. I would very much prefer to break the summoning stones, as that would gain me approval from Solas instead of losing approval by killing his friend, but I don't know of any ways to reset this. (I have tried starting the game back up, approaching the area differently, changing my party, and attacking the stones anyway, but none of it worked)
